‘With my hair goes up , why are we staying here?’
Troy asks loudly , like she is really asking her teacher Marry .
‘You’d better not really ask about this to Marry .’ Poly says . ‘She is quiet mean about our leisure time , you know .’
Troy makes a big sign . It has been two days now since Marry , her teacher and only guardian , took her to this place . She said this is the place where she really works at and it probably would be her future place to work .
‘This is stupid . She even can’t predict how much sugar I can eat at all.’
‘Marry is clever , Troy . She must has her reason .’
Troy pretends to be angry now .
‘That’s unbelievable ! OK ? Look at this place ! Books , desks , chairs , strangers , boring white floors . Nothing is like what was in the village in Ponkas ! How can I live without a place to run and pull out the grasses ?’
‘That’s true .’ Poly admits . He does missing his old living corner in Ponkas . The children there were quiet interesting---not like all the serious-looking adults here .
‘And excuse me ? She just shows up every morning and evening , gives us hard works and check it . No exercises , no fun . And you know what ? We don’t have weekends now ! ’
At this moment a short women comes in , her eyes sprinkle different colors under the light surprisingly , like a ruby and a sapphire .
Troy suddenly stops complaining .
‘Troy ,’ The women speaks , in a cold and unfriendly tough . ‘If you continues your work without speaking useless words , the world would be much more better .’
‘But Marry...’
Marry gives her a stare . ‘What ?’
‘Well... Nothing .’
‘Good . Now go back work .’
‘Miss , do we have something , well , to relax here ? I mean , we have a short break in the noon isn’t it ? We wanna find something to do .’ Poly asks in a low voice .
Marry stands at there and thinks for a while (Troy bets she is thinking whether this boring place does have such a place of joy) , and responds with an strange sentence : ‘ Why not go find something to do ?’
‘What? ’
‘You can go any room on this floor you know ? Go find something then .’
Marry walks out , like finally finish the task to talk to two childish kids .
‘Told you , boring Marry works in boring company .’
Troy puts the lemon into her mouth and quickly spits it out .
‘Uh! this is so....’
They have walked through the whole floor with curiosity and expectation . But they found nothing . There are only 4 rooms on this floor which they can reach . The first one is their bedroom shared with Marry’s , which is filled with soft sofas , Troy’s duties and what she calls as ‘stupid Marry papers’ ; The second room is filled with dead rabbits , and smelled like a place filled with withered leaves ; The third room was not interesting at all , there were piles of broken experimental instruments and a full desk of fake plants (Troy counts out about 19 bottles of big fern , 2 bottles of daisy and an old pan with fish eyes and broken branches) . There is also a fake human model without head , Troy spends a few time decorated it with those fake plants so that he will not look so scary.
Finally they steps into the forth room . It looks like a big communication room . Piles of lines and computer screens were fixed on the wall . Each of them lights and has a small bee-like voice .
‘Whoa , looks cool .’Troy says .
And then she notices a big round installation in the middle of the room . It looks like a platform .
‘What is that ?’
‘I think...’Poly holds his breath .
‘Troy , I think it is the only true fun here !’
‘But what is this ?’ Troy looks back in curious .She steps onto the big platform and stamps on it to make a loud noise .
‘ It is a portal ! Troy , a real , functional portal !’
‘What’s a portal ?’
Poly seems to be very exited .
‘ A portal is a special installation that can transfer you to everywhere which have the same kinds or routes of portals ! Which means...’ He looks at Troy mysteriously . ‘If there does have same route of portals , we can go there !’
Troy becomes extremely interested in the big platform now .
‘Are you sure , Poly ?’
‘Of cause ! I read it on my coursebook before . ’
‘Then let’s do this !’
Troy immediately clicks a botton on the screen .
‘Wait...’
But the portal does not work , it silently remains rest and the screen shows a red ‘error’ on the name of the first line .
‘Well , it seems that the place ‘ Megoda Pusuca’ has been kicked out .’Troy narrows to see the screen .
‘Troy , I don’t suppose that...’
‘Well , neither does the place ‘Pants Planet’ .’
‘...you can use it...’
‘ ‘True Church’? Nope . ‘Ungasting with chips’? Nope.’
‘..Marry would be angry...’
‘ ‘The basement’?’
Suddenly the portal makes out a sharp twinkle voice . Yellow lights flies upon the surroundings of the two kids and soon covered everything up . Wind noise was heard and the ground disappears . Troy and Poly scream out of voice as they both feels a strangely unstable environment . While the situation just remains for about 10 seconds and they were landed into a dark place .
‘My dear little mitochondria ! Where are we ?’
The kids stand up and feel a little bit afraid . Especially when Poly finds that there is something fur-like on his head .
‘eh...Troy , could you see anything on my head ?’
Troy remains silent though .
‘Troy ?’
And just then the world back to light , Poly surprisingly finds out that fur-like thing is a thick brown blanket which is used to cover the portal .
‘Ta-da !’ Troy laughs . ‘Timid Poly !’
‘It was scary ok ? Where are we ?’
The kids look around . It is a huge room filled with different kinds of things . Several old sofas are lying in the corner with suspicious white dust on them ; A model with man head and pig body is placing in the centre of the room with a glass box to protect it ; A giant red wings ( Troy thinks it is a butterfly’s) is hanging on the tallest wall , and many unreasonable things piling up into mountains in the space .
‘Whoa....So this is it , ‘The basement’.’
‘It seems a long time have past for someone to clean here .’
Poly uses his finger to tap a green fish inside a tank , it swims around like a stupid balloon .
‘So let’s see what can we find here to help us get a longer rest time .’
They started searching the place . Troy often climbs up the ‘hills’ while Poly prefers to stay on the ground . Troy finds a eaten lolipop , a giant ant and a stinking red apple .She happily eats the apple and found it to be salty .
‘Hey , Troy . Look what I’ve found !’
Troy jumps down one of the pile and rushes to see , it is an old closet filled with small bottles and tubes .
‘Are these...medicines ?’
‘Yeah . In words , medicines ; But in other words , these are laxatives .’
‘ah--- I know what you are thinking !’Troy shouts out . She quickly pick up one bottle and drinks it off without any thinking .
‘What ? Are you crazy , Troy !’
‘That’s what you mean right ? Drink them and pretend to be ill ?’
‘No !’Poly shouts in surprise . ‘I just show you them !’
‘Well , whatever . At least we find the way to have a holiday .’ Troys seems to be happy though . She ignores what Poly was saying and jumps to the portal .
‘Time’s over ! Let’s go , Poly!’
But the thing didn’t go on well as Troy predicts .
Three days have past , she is still very healthy and there is no sign for the medicines to work .
‘That’s strange .’She says . ‘Are you sure they are functional and they are laxatives ?’
‘Probably , well , I mean yes . At least the paper on them wrote this .’Poly whispered .
They are still doing the endless ‘Marry work’ and Troy is already feeling bored with them after only 5 minutes .
‘Troy .’
Troy looks up and sees Marry . She is standing at her bedroom’s door with fury and confusion on her face .
She is holding the bottles .
‘Woops...’
‘What are these , Troy ?’
‘I...eh...’
‘Do you know how dangerous medicines are ? How did you get them ?’
‘I...found it next door...’
‘Lowey’s bread...Troy , why you drink these ?’
‘...’
‘You know too much of this could cause death ? Though this kind of medicines would not work on you ...’
‘Wait what ? Why ?’ Troy was shocked .
‘You are a biogeer , please . Human medicines would not work on you .’
‘I...’
Marry’s left hand , which is holding the bottle , starting to catch on fire . The beautiful red flame flies up and turns the bottle into pure ashes . Troy can feel Marry’s fury is coming up .
‘All right then .’ Troy gives a deep breath .
‘I would like to say that is because I want a holiday .’
‘A holiday ?’Marry stopped in amazement .
‘Yeah...I have just got here and I don’t know anything to do for fun . I don’t recognize anyone here and I don’t even get a chance to go anywhere else except this floor with four rooms . It’s so boring ! I want to learn and know about this place more , but what I know now is just that this is the place you are working at .’
Marry stared at her , a small amazement shows up in her eyes . Soon after she makes a big sign and says : ‘Well , you know what ,Troy ?’
‘Yes ?’
‘I am sorry that it is true that I didn’t let you go out . But actually this place is quiet fun . Many people here are friendly and interesting and I promise you will like it . The reason why I didn’t let you two go any other places is because I was too busy and had no time to take you guys to check in the system . And according to the high president , you will not allowed to go into the main places but stay in here . So it was my fault to not to explain it to you and tell you to wait patiently .’
Troy and Poly look at her in great surprise .
Then Troy suddenly jumps up and shouts : ‘So you mean actually we will have fun here and this is not a boring place ?!’
‘Yes.’
‘We can have better place to relax and more things to do?’Poly asks loudly .
‘Yes.’
‘There will be many interesting people here ?’
‘Yes .’
‘And when will we check in ?!’
The two kids stare at Marry in great interest and exitement .Marry feels funny but she tries her best not to smile .
‘Fine ... tomorrow , half past seven , wait here on time . And I’ll take you guys to Neslada .’
‘Who’s Neslada ?’
But Marry doesn’t reply and walks out .
‘Marry------!’ Troy coquetries .
‘It is a secret .’
